‘Great Siddhartha of Weather’ predicts snow days for fun
THREE RIVERS — It all started in Mr. Smith’s seventh grade science class.
Young Dan Roberts, now the assistant band director at Three Rivers High School, was fascinated by his teacher’s predicting snow days based on factors such as barometric pressure.
About eight years ago, as a joke, Roberts started predicting snow days for his band students.
“It kept happening — I’d say [there would be a snow day] and it would happen,” Roberts said.
He had lots of fun doing it, and has gotten to the point where even parents are texting him.
“I’m not the guy that calls the snow days here,” he reminds them.
Some former students ask him to predict if Western Michigan University or Glen Oaks Community College will have a snow day, but he tells them he only predicts for Three Rivers.
