Clements: politically astute with a servant’s heart
To the editor:
Fred Upton has been in the House of Representatives for 30 years. He’s the definition of a career politician. If you look at Fred’s voting record, there’s not a lot to show for it. He’s sponsored only six bills that have been signed into law. Six. That’s one every five years. The base salary for a Representative is $174,000 so Fred has earned a minimum of $5.2 million during his tenure, or $870,000 per bill. Not bad work if you can get it.
