Lois Marie “Ma” Bell, 90, formerly of Constantine, died Nov. 24, 2016, at Apostolic Christian Home of Eureka, Ill. She was born on Aug. 6, 1926 in Bristol, Ind., a daughter of Samuel and Sylvia (Rought) Detwiler. On April 22, 1944 she married Richard Bell in Brownwood, Texas. He preceded her in death Jan. 6, 2003. Lois and Richard operated their family farm on Constantine Road for many years. She was instrumental in the creation of the Three Rivers Health Inpatient Hospice Respite Suite opened in 2004.
Surviving are her daughter, Marlene Armstrong of Washington, Ill.; sons, Ronald (Patricia) Bell of Constantine and Richard (Patricia) Bell Jr. of Henderson, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren, several great- and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Mildred “Millie” Watts of Marcellus; and brother, Frank Detwiler of Goshen, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; great-grandson, Danniel Gardner; sisters, Bonita Belle Morningstar and Lilly Sweat; and brothers, James Detwiler and LeRoy Detwiler.
Relatives and friends will be received Monday from 12-2 p.m. at the Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious services will be held at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Ed McCutchan, Constantine United Methodist Church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Peek Cemetery.
