Turnovers, foul trouble sink Bulldogs in loss to Rangers

CASSOPOLIS — The Centreville varsity boys’ basketball team dropped a 50-43 decision in BCS League Blue Division play at Cassopolis on Friday.
“We played our game plan,” said Centreville coach Mike Hunter. “We switched our defenses and were able to break their press, but didn’t hit shots when we needed to. We had costly turnovers and foul trouble that put us on the losing side tonight. We will continue to play our game and learn from our mistakes.”
Cassopolis jumped out to a 13-7 lead after one quarter. But Centreville closed the gap to 25-21 entering halftime. The Bulldogs trailed the Rangers 36-32 after three quarters.
Hayden Stauffer scored 14 points to lead Centreville, now 2-1 overall. Alex Stafford added nine points, Coletin Gascho six and Ross Hunter had five for the Bulldogs, who made 18 field-goal attempts and shot 6-of-10 at the foul stripe.
Tyrese Hunt-Thompson scored 15 points for Cassopolis.
