GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP
CONSTANTINE — Sturgis overpowered host Constantine 63-54 in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
Paulina Diaz had 18 points for Constantine. Mackenzi Dobosiewicz added 12 points, while Lexi Dull added nine, Kiara Price seven and Macey Tulley and Hannah Ley had four each.
“Paulina and Mackenzi stepped up offensively and Kiara gave us her best defensive effort especially in the second half. Lexi came off the bench and hit some key shots for us,” said Constantine coach Rachel Schlosser.
Ley injured her knee in the first half and saw limited action.
“We got down 18 in a bad hole and did too little too late to start the game. We played scared and timid and had way too many turnovers,” Schlosser said.
“Our defense was too relaxed and we did not play to our potential the first half.”
Constantine fought back within two points in the second half, but tired out from pressing and its lack of depth off the bench.
“I am very proud of our girls for sticking with it and the hard work they put in,” Schlosser said. “We will learn from this and bounce back.”
