Serious injuries in crash

FLOWERFIELD TOWNSHIP — A 28-year-old Constantine man was seriously injured in a car vs. tree accident on Monday, Oct. 17 around 8:36 p.m., according to the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department.
A Schwans truck driven by Timothy Edward Sherer was eastbound on M-216 approximately half a mile east of Chamberlain Road when a tree fell in the roadway in front of the truck. He was unable to stop and struck the tree head-on.
He had to be extricated from the vehicle as he was entrapped. He was transported to Bronson Hospital by Air Care for his injuries.
Alcohol was not a factor and seatbelts were used. The vehicle was towed by Brokers Towing of Three Rivers.
Marcellus Fire and ambulance service, Fabius Park Fire Rescue, and Three Rivers ambulance assisted at the scene.
