Sturgis man arrested in Paul's Pantry shooting

THREE RIVERS — An arrest was made Thursday in a shooting incident that happened earlier this month on the east side of Three Rivers.

According to the Three Rivers Police Department, 21-year-old Donovan Foster of Sturgis was arrested and charged with three counts of assault with intent to commit murder in a shooting incident that happened at the Paul’s Pantry corner store on East Michigan Avenue.

Police say Foster was taken into custody without incident at a residence in Sturgis, assisted by Michigan State Police and the Sturgis Police Department, and lodged in the St. Joseph County Jail. Foster was arraigned Friday in St. Joseph County 3B District Court with bond set at $300,000. He is scheduled for a pre-exam conference on Tuesday, Aug. 3 at 9 a.m.

Police allege Foster to be the shooter in the incident, which occurred on July 12 around 9:05 p.m. at the store. As previously reported, police were called to the scene for a call of shots fired, with the suspect allegedly fleeing the scene. The victim of the shooting was transported to Three Rivers Health via a personal vehicle.
