James Sherman Salon completes move uptown
THREE RIVERS — After being downtown for a number of years, James Sherman Salon has a new home a little farther north in town.
On Friday, the salon, along with members of the Three Rivers Area Chamber of Commerce, celebrated with a ribbon cutting at the new location, 1132 N. Main St. in Three Rivers, in the Metro at Maple Lane plaza.
The salon space is a little bit bigger than its previous abode at 109 Portage Ave. near downtown Three Rivers, but that wasn’t the big reason for the move, according to owner James Sherman.
“We needed better parking and getting out of the hustle and bustle of downtown,” Sherman said during the ceremony.
He said he enjoys the new location in the Metro at Maple Lane plaza, as well as the scenery it provides.
“It’s more of the location, just on the outskirts, not too crazy busy, and kind of peaceful,” Sherman said following the ceremony. “It gives us a whole different look, something new for change.”
More than a dozen people attended the ribbon cutting, which featured refreshments and discussion about the move. Golden Finch Frame and Gallery gifted a framed collage of pictures and articles about the salon to celebrate the move.
The salon has been in business for 22 years, with the last 12 years on Portage Avenue. Sherman said he was excited to make the move.
“It feels wonderful, feels great. The parking is wonderful, the atmosphere is great. It’s just a great little plaza here,” Sherman said.
James Sherman Salon offers hair and eyelash services, including haircuts and colors, and is a Brazilian Blowout-certified salon. There is a private room as well for eyelashes, which is done by a certified eyelash technician.
The salon is open Monday through Saturday by appointment only.
