TRDDA reaches consensus on budget during special meeting

 

 

THREE RIVERS – The Three Rivers Downtown Development Authority held a special planning meeting on Tuesday, March 12, to discuss three proposals for their budget for the forthcoming fiscal year.
As a result of the meeting, the TRDDA selected a draft that would result in a balanced budget to be voted on at their next general meeting.
Three proposals for the budget were submitted to the Board for discussion, with most of the variance focusing on the pay and hiring process for the new executive director.
The first proposal, submitted by Board Member Tim Raakman, would give the TRDDA oversight of the executive director and manage their salary, benefits, and other duties. The second proposal, submitted by Board Member and City Manager Joe Bippus, would have the TRDDA contract with a hiring firm, who would then oversee the hiring process, the salary, benefits, and other employment info for the executive director. The final proposal, also submitted by Bippus, would make the executive director a part-time position, thereby ending the TRDDA’s contract with Michigan Main Street.
